Is your company looking for a place to bring your meetings, trainings and conferences? Or are you planning for a business trip anytime soon? In the heart of the UNESCO Heritage Site in George Town, Penang, the Royale Chulan Hotel provides uncompromising rooms and suites with fully equipped conference and meeting facilities that are perfect for those on business visits.

The hotel offers a charming fusion of history through its colonial architecture and modern luxuries. What makes this building so special would be the fact that it is a beautifully restored heritage building which provides an old-world sophistication unique to them. The rooms feel contemporary with white furniture through patterned fabrics and locally inspired artwork. A slightly more colonial style runs through their event halls with patterned carpeting which adds on a touch of class and elegance.

After a busy day of business-related talk, your employees can enjoy some down time at the outdoor pool, go for a spa and choose from a variety of dining options that are made available on-site. However, due to the hotels excellent central and convenient location, many spend their time off-site too to further indulge in the rich heritage and culture of Penang. You’ll find that only about a 15-minute walk away (there are bus services available too) from the Royale Chulan Hotel Penang, there are tons of hot spots that is a must to visit.

1. Chew Jetty

The Chew Jetty which is one of the more prominent jetties among the eight clan jetties of Pengkalan Weld. You’ll be able to trace the origin back to the earlier Chinese settlements in Penang who built these villages on stilts. The popularity of this jetty grew when it became one of the mural sites for Ernest Zacharevic’s, “Mirror George Town” project that was in conjunction with George Town Festival in 2012.

2. Penang Peranakan Mansion

The Penang Peranakan Mansion is a typical home of a rich Baba of a century ago that was recreated to offer a glimpse of their opulent lifestyle and their many customs and traditions. With over 1,000 pieces of antique and collectibles of the era on display, this museum is also housed in one of Penang’s heritage mansion of eclectic design and architecture. There will be tour guides offering tours (available in different languages) around the mansion which you can follow as well.

3. Penang Food

Not forgetting the food that everyone comes to Penang for! Just a 5 – 15 minute walk from the Royale Chulan Hotel Penang, there will be heaps of restaurants and food vendors especially in the Little India and Chinatown areas. Make sure you indulge in that authentic Penang food goodness!

4. Street Art – Mirrors George Town

Most people visit Penang for finger licking local cuisine. However, there are many others that head there simply to check out street art and wall murals. Of course, the one thing that you have to see would be the famous art done by Ernest Zacharevic called “Mirrors George Town”. His work is a reflection of the multiculturalism and diversity of Georgetown’s people. These are some of our favourite pieces.
